Fencing in Kingston upon Thames
Garden fencing installed and repaired across Kingston, Norbiton, Kingston Hill and Coombe.

We install and repair garden fencing across Kingston upon Thames, Norbiton, Kingston Hill, Coombe and New Malden, from our base in Surbiton. The work is led by Trevor, who has spent 40 years on fencing in this area.
Fencing for Kingston gardens
Kingston has everything from small terraced gardens, where every panel and post comes through the house, to large Coombe plots with long boundary runs. We plan the job around the access, and if there is no side access we say so in the quote, not on the day.
The ground is clay across most of the borough, so posts go in on concrete with gravel boards as standard. Parts of Kingston are conservation areas, where a front boundary may need consent. We check before we quote. Our garden law page covers boundaries and ownership.
We put up closeboard, panel, slatted and hit and miss fencing, trellis, gates, post and rail and composite. See the styles on our main garden fencing page.

Common questions
Do I need planning permission for a new fence in Kingston?
Usually not, up to 2 metres at the back and 1 metre next to a road. Listed buildings and conservation areas can need consent. We check before we quote.
Can you work with no side access?
Yes. Materials and waste come through the house under dust sheets, and the quote allows for the extra time.
Can you price from photos?
Often, yes. Send three photos, the rough length in metres and your postcode. Anything less clear gets a site visit.
How long does a closeboard fence last?
Twenty to thirty years when it is built on concrete posts with gravel boards. Panel fencing usually lasts ten to fifteen.
Fence down or leaning?
See our fence repair and storm damage page. For the rest of what we do in the borough, see garden design and landscaping in Kingston. We also cover fencing in Surbiton and fencing in Worcester Park.
