Garden tools: terms of use

Our free garden tools are here to help you plan your own garden: the garden sun planner, the What type is my soil? tool and the palette planner. These terms apply when you use them.

Using the tools

  • The tools are free to use for your own garden, or a garden you look after.
  • You can save, print and share your own results.
  • The readings, plant suggestions, plans and budget figures are a general guide worked out from what you tell us. They are not a survey, a design or a quotation. Soil, drainage, sun, what is under the ground and site access can only be confirmed on a site visit. A fixed price only follows a site visit.

What you may not do

  • Copy, reproduce or republish the tools, their code, wording, plant lists, price guides or road data, in whole or in part.
  • Use scripts, bots, scrapers or other automated means to take information from the tools, or send large numbers of requests.
  • Use the tools or their results to build or run a competing tool or service.
  • Remove or hide our copyright notices.

We limit how many lookups each visitor can make and block automated access.

Who owns the tools

The tools, their design and code, their wording, plant data and price guides, and the soil tool’s road-by-road readings as we have compiled them are owned by CED Consulting Ltd. They are protected by copyright under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and, for the information we have compiled, by database right under the Copyright and Rights in Databases Regulations 1997. “Flourish Garden Sun Planner” is the subject of a UK trade mark application.

Accuracy

We take care to keep the tools accurate and up to date, but we cannot promise they are free of errors or always available. Please check anything important with us before you spend money on it. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Your details

Your answers stay in your browser unless you choose to send them to us. The soil tool sends the road name you type to our website so it can find matching roads; it is not linked to you. To stop misuse we count the lookups from each connection for ten minutes. If you send us your scheme, estimate or contact details, we use them only to reply about your garden, as set out in our privacy policy.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page is the one that applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
